Sheree Harper Selected as a Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation Scholarship Recipient
Sheree Harper, a doctoral student in Counselor Education & Supervision, received a Mental Health/Kyle Pierre Johnson Scholarship in the amount of $10,000 from the Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation for the Spring 2022 term. The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation’s (BLHF) vision is to eradicate the stigma around mental health issues in the African American community. The BLHF is committed to changing the perception of mental illness by encouraging those who suffer from this debilitating illness to obtain the help they need. To support that need, the BLHF strives to increase the number of African American therapists and enhance cultural competency and representation. The BLHF Mental Health Scholarship Fund looks for students with high academic attributes, personal tenacity, and community-driven perseverance that demonstrate a commitment to improving mental health and overall health disparities for a vulnerable group. The USSC congratulates Sheree on this accomplishment and selection!
